This is one of my favorite ways to eat potatoes. I make these “fries” sometimes as often as 3 times a week. So yummy and most importantly, easy and quick to make. I love to use Yukon golds, but the recipe works equally well with sweet potatoes. Quantities are approximate. It really depends on your appetite. Enjoy!
Serves 2
Prep Time : 10 minutes Cook Time: 30 minutes
Ingredients
2 or more medium potatoes, Yukon gold, scrubbed & skin on, cut length wise into small wedges or cut into strips like “fries”
1 tsp. ground cumin, or more to taste (optional)
1 tsp. smoked paprika, or more to taste (optional)
1 tsp. onion powder, or more to taste (optional)
Fresh pepper to taste
Directions
- Heat oven to 450 F
- Line baking sheet with parchment paper or silicon mat. (you may even need 2 baking sheets, depending on the size and amount of your potatoes)
- Cut the potatoes and add to a large bowl. Sprinkle with spices, if using. Toss well.
- Lay out on the baking sheet, so the potatoes are not overlapping
- Bake for about 30 minutes, until potatoes are nicely browned and slightly puffed. They should be crispy on the outside and soft inside.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
I make these “fries” a lot. Most of the time I do not add any spices at all and just add condiments, after they are baked. If you do use spices, experiment which ones suit your taste buds best.
The same baking method also works great for Roasted Sweet Potato “Fries”. Just depends what you are in the mood for.
